Park sleep fly (also sold as park, stay and fly) bundles three things into one booking: a hotel room for the night before your flight, parking at the hotel for the length of your trip, and shuttle rides to and from the terminal. It wins when the package costs less than airport parking plus the value of a civilized start, which at expensive parking airports is often. It loses at airports with cheap parking, where the package is really selling convenience. Every figure below was checked in November 2026.
When the math works
Run this comparison before you book anything:
- Price the airport’s own parking for your exact trip length, drive-up rate, not a prepaid teaser.
- Price the cheapest decent park sleep fly package with enough parking days included.
- If the package is within about $40 of the parking alone, the room, the shuttle, and the slower morning are effectively free. Take the package.
- If airport parking is under about $15 a day, the package rarely saves money. Book the room and parking separately if you still want the night-before stay.
The five airports we cover, at a glance
| Airport | Best package found | Airport parking benchmark | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| LAX | From $123 for one night plus seven days of parking (Hilton Garden Inn LAX El Segundo listings) | $20 to $35 a day official parking | Package usually wins for trips of five days or more |
| JFK | $229 for a seven-day package (Best Western JFK Airport Hotel) | Among the most expensive airport parking in the US | Package wins often; check the shuttle runs from Federal Circle |
| ATL | Drury Inn and Suites: parking free for up to seven days with a one-night stay | $140 for seven days in the Economy lot | Package wins when the room is under about $140 |
| Heathrow | Sofitel Terminal 5 lists parking packages for 4, 8 and 15 days; Hilton Terminal 4 for 15 and 21 days, booked direct | Official long-stay parking priced per day, booked ahead for the best rates | Compare direct hotel packages against pre-booked long stay |
| Las Vegas | Best Western McCarran Inn packages include up to seven days of parking | $14 a day in Economy, $98 a week | Convenience, not savings; and check shuttle hours before booking |
Four things to check before you pay
- Parking days included. Packages bundle a set number of days, commonly 7, 8, 10 or 14. Extra days are charged per day and can erase the saving on a long trip.
- Shuttle hours. The cheapest package is worthless if the first shuttle leaves after your check-in deadline. Las Vegas is the cautionary tale in our guides: the closest hotel’s shuttle does not run before 6:15 AM.
- Where the shuttle picks up. At JFK, hotel shuttles cannot enter the terminal area at all; every pickup is at Federal Circle station on the free AirTrain. Budget 30 to 45 minutes terminal to hotel.
- The car park itself. Hotel parking ranges from a gated, lit lot to an open field behind the building. For a two-week trip, that difference matters more than $20.
Frequently asked questions
Is park sleep fly cheaper than airport parking?
At airports with parking above roughly $20 a day, usually yes for trips of five days or longer, because the room rides along for little more than the parking bill. At airports with parking near $14 a day, like Las Vegas, usually not. Each of our airport guides runs the math with checked local prices.
Do I have to stay the night before, or can I stay after the trip?
Most packages allow the stay on either end, and some travelers prefer the return night after a red-eye. Confirm when booking, because a minority of hotels fix the stay to the outbound night.
What happens if my trip runs longer than the parking included?
You pay the hotel’s extra-day parking rate, which is usually reasonable but rarely published prominently. If your trip might stretch, ask for the extra-day rate before you book, not at checkout.
Can I book the package and skip the room?
No. The room is the product; the parking is bundled with it. If you only need parking, airport lots and off-airport parking sites will be cheaper than a package you do not sleep in.
